Hot Wheels was presented with the gong at the annual distributor sales meeting for Mongoose in Madison, Wisconsin. Hot Wheels won last year, too.Hot Wheels grew its Mongoose business by 37 per cent in the 2007 model year. Center Parcs holiday resorts in the UK are now equipping with Mongoose bikes after Hot Wheels signed a deal for the brand to become the 'official' Center Parc bike. 75 per cent of the Center Parcs UK fleet will be special-build Mongoose bikes by July 2007. The award was presented to Russell Merry of Hot Wheels by Eric Carter, multi world champion in MTB and BMX racing, at the Chop House Restaurant in downtown Madison. Jeff Weiss, director of international sales for Mongoose, said: “Hot Wheels has been a Mongoose distributor since 1989 and the UK is one of our strongest European markets. Hot Wheels have done an excellent job in marketing and developing the brand's profile alongside impressive sales growth. Hot Wheels have retained the Distributor of the Year Award from 2006 which is also a fantastic achievement. The Mongoose brand is on the march with a new booth at Eurobike this year and an outstanding portfolio of innovative new products, our intention is to achieve similar success to that of the UK in more European markets.” Russell Merry said: “The product team have given us a platform to continue to grow our business. The designs of suspension systems and engineering have been validated by favourable magazine reviews and ultimately sales. Our build quality has been confirmed by the success of their introduction to Center Parcs as a rental fleet and our dealers have been buying bikes in unprecedented numbers. "It would seem that the bicycle industry in general is having a good year with congestion, environmental and health issues leading us to believe that this growth will continue.”
